Moose Antler Trophy Scoring

Dreams of hunting massive Canadian Moose with their massive antlers should be on every trophy hunters bucket list. The northern regions of Canada are home to some truly impressive trophies, currently walking the forests, and marshes, and tundra, growing larger every day.  Even finding the antler sheds is a quest many people have on their spring time to do list. After the shed, bull moose begin the process of casting a new set of antlers (some call them paddles) as they prepare for the mating season stand-offs with other bulls. But the true trophy is that attained from a hunt of these enormous ungulates. The animal itself is not a trophy you drag out of the woods as they can often weigh in excess of 700 kg (1500+ pounds) and their antlers can measure greater than 5 feet wide and greater than 35 kg (80+ pounds). The official record book scoring system is from Boone and Crocket, where we have sourced the following diagrams. Moose Antler Trophy Scoring is more than just the widest measurement, which is the most common reported. It is actually quite complex, as shown below.
